The Kingdom Flight Hope Project
Hope is just your typical teenage girl living with life's day-to-day struggles and challenges. At fifteen, challenges can be frequent and overwhelming at times. Especially for Native American teens throughout the United States. You see, Hope is a member of the White Mountain Apache tribe located in Eastern Arizona. Along with many other teens on the Rez, Hope regularly spends her free time at the Kennel, an after-school Christian teen ministry center run by missionary Ron Everingham as an outreach to the Apache youth. This area is one of the most beautiful and colorful areas of the Southwestern United States and is one of Kingdom Flight’s most recent areas of ministry. The deep blue skies and colorful mountains are in stark contrast to the gray reality of the Apache people who call this area home. In February 2004, Hope, the beautiful young Apache girl with unlimited potential and so very much to live for, lost all hope herself and stepped into her closet one afternoon and hung herself. This scenario is repeated all too frequently on the reservations throughout the United States. Hopelessness is a common thread and acts as the catalyst for these tragic events. Seventy-five percent of all Native Americans in this country are affected by alcoholism, and as a result, teen suicide and sexual, physical, and emotional abuse against children are all too common. Many of these young people see no other way out and turn to suicide as their only hope to end their pain. As Christians we’re taught in Romans 8:28 “that in all things God works for the good of those who love him”, and we believe that God can and will use this tragedy for good. To this end, we’ve established the Kingdom Flight Hope Project. The Kingdom Flight Hope Projects will be live-in homes for orphaned, abused, or neglected children and will also include a ministry center incorporating a Christian homeschool, community outreach facility, and a counseling center for the community. We plan to establish similar projects throughout North America. Our very first Hope Project will bring hope to underprivileged children in Mexico through the Kingdom Flight Una Esperanza (One Hope) children's home project. The Una Esperanza children's home is located south of Juarez, Mexico just across the border from El Paso, TX. Please join us in prayer for this new and exciting ministry opportunity.
